Tocco Report: BIODESIGN 2024
Early Signals of What's Next
The world’s biggest design fair - Milan Design Week 2024 - rolled out the green carpet under the theme "Materia Natura", challenging designers to wrestle with the elements of matter and nature.
That was the initial pitch. Yet, the event ended up parading more materialism than “Materia” or “Natura.” Sticking to the theme is never an easy task (Exhibit A: the recent Met Gala 2024's "The Garden of Time" and its nod to sustainability).
Despite this, some brands managed to keep their compass pointed towards the theme "Materia Natura". They embraced the true North of non-greenwashing, focusing on natural and low-impact materials.
In this Biodesign 2024 Report, we delve into the innovators who successfully married materia with natura, spotlighting the rebels reshaping our material world.
